Psychic Without Warning

It was somewhere around the year 2010 when I experienced an event that would profoundly and permanently alter my understanding of reality. At the time, I had no background in anything remotely spiritual, psychic, or religious. I wasn’t raised in any belief system, and my worldview had been shaped almost entirely by a science-based, material understanding of the world. If I’m honest, I don’t think I had ever even used the word psychic before this experience—or if I had, it was only in passing. My knowledge of anything metaphysical came exclusively from movies I had seen or the occasional book I had read for entertainment, never from any form of study, training, or even casual exploration.

I was working the graveyard shift as a Washington State Correctional Officer at the Washington State Reformatory, a maximum-security prison with over a century of intense history embedded in its walls. On this particular night, as I methodically walked the tiers in B-Unit performing my routine security checks, the familiar environment seemed unusually charged.

Standing quietly in the darkness of the stairway between tiers, a peculiar sensation began to ripple subtly across my body—a tingling, electric-like feeling that started gently but quickly intensified. Suddenly, I felt an unmistakable and powerful pulse of energy shoot through the center of my brain. At the time, I had no frame of reference for what had just happened. Later, I would come to understand this as an activation of my pineal gland, but in that moment, it was simply a profound, disorienting surge. The entire experience lasted no more than a minute, yet it felt as though time itself had briefly paused.

Regaining my composure, I finished my rounds and returned to my desk, feeling slightly dizzy and unsettled but otherwise physically fine. The rest of the night passed uneventfully, though I remained in an odd state of mild light-headedness. It was in the days that followed that the true significance of what had happened began to reveal itself.

Gradually, I noticed a sharp enhancement of all five physical senses. Sounds seemed clearer, colors more vivid, and even my sense of taste and smell had become unusually heightened. What startled me the most, however, was an emerging ability to perceive subtle layers of energy—glowing, flowing fields surrounding people, plants, and even objects. It was as if a veil had been lifted from my perception, exposing a vibrant dimension of reality that I had never known existed.

Then, only a few days later, something even more extraordinary occurred: I began to clearly see entities that I could only describe as spirits or ghosts. Up until then, I had been doubtful of their existence—skeptical, even—but now they were right in front of me, undeniably present and actively attempting to communicate.

Over the following weeks and months, my awareness continued to expand. I developed a striking intuitive ability—instantaneous “knowings” that appeared fully formed in my mind without any logical explanation or prior knowledge. These insights arrived as if they were being delivered directly into my consciousness.

Recognizing the sensitive nature of my work environment, I kept these abilities to myself, sharing them with no one. The prison, with its dense concentration of emotional, spiritual, and psychic energy, became an unintentional training ground. Night after night, I found myself refining my awareness and learning to navigate these new senses in one of the most energetically charged environments imaginable.

That moment in 2010 marked the true beginning of my journey into the unseen dimensions of existence. It reshaped not only how I understood reality, but how I understood my place within it. I had stepped into a world I hadn’t even believed in just days before—one that continues to unfold before me to this day.
